Background

Elise M. Blandin is an Attorney at Romanucci & Blandin, LLC where she focuses her practice in the areas of medical malpractice, toxic torts, wrongful death, automobile collisions, premises liability and construction negligence.

Elise knew she wanted to be a lawyer from as young as five-years-old. Her passion for helping others without a voice and advocating for those who have suffered injustice in their lives is evident each day she is practicing law and fighting on behalf of her clients as an Attorney at Romanucci & Blandin.

Since joining Romanucci & Blandin as a law clerk in 2019, Elise quickly became an integral part of the team, contributing to a variety of significant cases concerning medical malpractice, construction negligence, nursing home, premises liability, wrongful death, auto accidents and more. Her hard work and commitment to her clients is evident by the numerous verdicts and settlements she has been a part of securing, including a $50 million settlement for the family of a worker who died in a workplace injury in the Chicago area in 2016, and a record breaking $12.35 million settlement on behalf of the family of a client whose doctors failed to diagnose her breast cancer in a timely manner, which ultimately led to her death at 37 years old. Elise also contributed to securing a $30 million settlement for a family after their son was left permanently disabled and brain injured as a result of 25 experimental surgeries while interning for the firm in 2016.

Most recently, Elise has undertaken toxic tort litigation, including environmental lawsuits on behalf of Plaintiffs in Union, Illinois who have suffered from illnesses caused by companies in the metal industry contaminating the groundwater and soil. She also plays a significant role in the on-going litigation on behalf of consumers defrauded by Commonwealth Edison’s bribery of elected officials in Illinois.

Elise graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a B.S. in Psychology and a J.D. from DePaul University College of Law. Planning to be a trial attorney all along, Elise majored in psychology to understand how a jury processes information and use a science-driven approach to communicate most effectively at trial. While in law school, she clerked for a trial team at another plaintiff personal injury firm, for Justice Lavin of the First District Illinois Appellate Court, and for Judge O'Hara in the Cook County Law Division.

Outside of the courtroom, Elise is a fervent fighter for children – devoting her time to volunteering and developing programs for those most at-risk. She currently volunteers at the Maine-Niles Association of Special Recreation (M-NASR), working with both children and adults who have special needs. While in undergrad, she helped develop a program called The Girls Advocacy Project, which provided emergency intervention services that centered on supporting at-risk youth in the Champaign-Urbana area. Elise proudly served as a teacher’s assistant when the program ultimately became a course at the university.
