$1,100,000 Settlement – Bipolar Crisis Wrongful Police Shooting Death
In 2012, our client, the mother of a 22-year-old bipolar young man, had reached out to the Walworth County Police Department after her son had locked himself in his room with a knife. The young man, who had a long history of struggling with bipolar disorder and depression, should have been treated properly for his emotional state of distress. Rather than treating him as a person in distress, sheriff’s deputies hastily kicked in the boy’s door, shooting and killing him within a few minutes after arriving at his residence.
