$1,500,000 Settlement - Prisoners' Rights Wrongful Death

Caleb Emory was a young man who unnecessarily died inside a mental health hospital run by the State of Illinois. While in the State’s custody, Caleb had a known risk of suicide and was placed on a 15-minute watch for his own safety. Ultimately, the State’s staff did not monitor Caleb while he was in their custody, and he was able to take his own life.

Attorney Sam A. Harton secured a $1.5 million settlement, with Co-Counsel Bhavani K. Raveendran of Raveendran Law LLC and Danielle E. Cain of Spiros Law, P.C.
