$3,980,000 Settlement – Punctured Heart Surgical Error Medical Malpractice

A 64-year-old-man had his life dramatically altered in September of 2011 after the physicians at Cook County Hospital made a medically negligent decision to have a cardiology fellow, under the supervision of an attending cardiologist, perform an elective, non-emergent and planned bedside pericardiocentesis. The procedure was improperly performed, and as a result, the patient’s heart was punctured, causing him to suffer an anoxic brain injury.
