Inmate’s pleas for mental-health help ignored before suicide, lawsuit says
... Carlton was held on $75,000 bond while awaiting trial in Kent County Circuit Court for assault with intent to murder, court records showed.
The lawsuit said Carlton told deputies in jail that she was suicidal but was repeatedly denied access to mental-health care. She was told that the mental-health unit was full and if she wanted to see a mental-health professional, she was “… out of luck,” according to the lawsuit filed by Chicago attorneys Andrew Kryder and Sam Harton.
