Antonio M. Romanucci Testifies at Bipartisan House of Representatives Hearing on Sanctuary Cities in Washington, D.C.

His remarks detail the devastating harm by federal agents to Renee Good and others, calling for accountability

CHICAGO, IL (April 16, 2026) – The national discussion over devastating harm in American cities was advanced in a Congressional Subcommittee hearing, where Romanucci & Blandin Founding Partner Antonio M. Romanucci advocated powerfully for those senselessly killed, injured and traumatized by federal immigration agents in recent months.

The House Judiciary Subcommittee on Oversight hearing was titled, “The Human Toll of Sanctuary Policies: from Victims and Families.” The majority-led event examined claims of harm attributable to undocumented individuals and scrutinized sanctuary city policies. Antonio broadened the discussion by detailing harms attributable to federal immigration agents in those same cities and elsewhere, including needless death, injury, and trauma inflicted upon American citizens and others through excessive force and violations of Constitutional rights.

Antonio and Romanucci & Blandin represent the family of Renee Good, who was shot and killed by a federal immigration agent in Minneapolis on January 7^th. The firm also represents others who were injured and had their constitutional rights violated by federal agents in Chicago during Operation Midway Blitz. In his remarks, Antonio shared comments from the family of Renee Good, reading a portion of her brothers’ testimony before a Congressional committee hearing in February. “All Americans should feel safe in their own cities. And all American cities should be sanctuaries where citizens are free from harm by their own government.   

No American citizen should suffer at the hands of someone who swore a duty to our Constitution. This is devastating to our Republic. It must stop and never resume. Those who have taken part need to be held accountable.”
