Today is another milestone in the long, slow journey to justice for George Floyd and his family as jury selection begins in the federal trial of former Minneapolis officers J. Alexander Kueng, Thomas Lane and Tou Thao.  We fully expect them to be held accountable for their roles in willingly violating the civil rights of George Floyd, leading to his tragic death. As the whole world witnessed in the unforgettable video, these officers directly contributed to his death and failed to intervene to stop the senseless murder. They deprived George of his liberty without due process and failed to provide the medical attention he so obviously needed. This trial will be another painful experience for the Floyd family, who must once more relive his grueling death in excruciating detail. On behalf of the legal team and the family, we trust and expect that an impartial jury representative of the community will be seated to do this important work.
