Mediation by Honorable William E. Gomolinski Results in $140 Million Settlement for Workplace Injury Matter

February 2, 2021

CHICAGO, IL – Romanucci & Blandin, LLC and Wise Morrissey, LLC together announce a $140 million settlement of a lawsuit involving a workplace injury in the Chicago area in 2016. The settlement was mediated by the Honorable William E. Gomolinski of ADR Systems. Judge Gomolinski, who has had a successful 11-year career on the bench and 21 years as an attorney, is highly regarded for his ability to resolve complex cases.

This settlement includes $50 million to the wife of a worker who died, represented by Romanucci & Blandin, and $90 million to a client of Wise Morrissey who survived, but suffered life-changing injuries. The case was complex as the multiple Defendants were represented by several different law firms.

“We are extremely grateful to Judge Gomolinski for his leadership in navigating this tragic case, particularly for finding a way to resolution during the challenging legal climate created by COVID-19,” said Founding Partner Stephan D. Blandin of Romanucci & Blandin, LLC.

“The Plaintiffs’ legal team and our clients appreciate the attention to detail and consideration of the many facets of this case by Judge Gomolinski during the six-month mediation,” said Attorney Robert J. Bingle of Wise Morrissey.

“This settlement, navigated through a labyrinth of complex issues by Judge Gomolinski, will assure that our young client will be able to take advantage of any new medical technology that becomes available during his lifetime,” said Attorney David Wise of Wise Morrissey.

The Plaintiffs were also represented by Romanucci & Blandin Senior Associate Michael Holden, Associate Michael Grieco, Associate Sarah King and Associate Elise Blandin.
