Romanucci & Blandin names Sarah M. Raisch a Partner at the firm
Romanucci & Blandin, LLC, a national personal injury firm primarily based in Chicago, is pleased to announce that Sarah M. Raisch has been named a Partner at the firm.
Sarah is a practice group lead in the firm’s Sexual Abuse practice group, where she proudly represents survivors of sexual abuse, especially in institutional settings such as schools, healthcare facilities and hospitals, and correctional facilities. In 2025, she was a key member of the trial team that secured a $15 million verdict against a Chicago-area high school district for failing to protect a male student from sexual abuse by a female teacher, the highest verdict in a school sexual abuse case in Illinois history to date.
Sarah also handles cases on the Medical Malpractice and Civil Rights & Police Misconduct teams, where she has obtained significant results for her clients. In a 16-month period, she was on trial teams that earned three substantial jury verdicts throughout the state of Illinois - a $40 million medical malpractice verdict for a young client paralyzed because of surgical negligence, a $2 million verdict for a young patient harmed by a negligent pediatric surgeon, and a $15 million sexual abuse verdict against a public school.
She is also of the attorneys in high profile cases of national importance, including the ongoing civil rights litigation for the family of Tyre Nichols, who was killed by Memphis Police Department officers in 2023, and in the ongoing litigation for victims and survivors of the Club Q mass shooting in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Sarah is committed to fighting threats to our community’s human rights head on, and during Chicago’s attack under “Operation Midway Blitz” she currently assists clients harmed and detained by federal agents throughout Chicagoland. Sarah was also a key contributor to a pro bono Hague Convention case that allowed a mother to remain safely in the United States with her child.
In April of 2025, Sarah was appointed by Gov. J.B. Pritzker to serve as a member of the Illinois Torture Inquiry and Relief Commission (TIRC). She is one of 16 members of the Commission, which is committed to fairly and accurately investigating claims that torture was used to obtain confessions leading to criminal convictions and, where warranted, providing those claimants a means of relief.
Before Romanucci & Blandin, Sarah spent a decade with the Office of the Lake County Public Defender where she built up a meaningful history of trial experience and was provided with critical tools and insights for advocating for individuals facing poverty, discrimination, and impacts of the criminal justice system. Before her time as a public defender, Sarah represented adult and juvenile clients in criminal trials and appellate matters at a small criminal defense firm in Racine, WI.
The legal community has recognized Sarah’s achievements, including naming her to the 40 Under Forty list of the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin in 2025. She was featured on the Best Lawyers in America® list for 2026, and she was a member of the team on a recent case was recognized on the list of Top 50 Verdicts in Illinois in 2024. Sarah is an active member of the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois (WBAI), the Lake County Bar Association (LCBA), and the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association (ITLA) among others.
She is also a proud “Double-Badger,” having attended the University of Wisconsin - Madison for college and law school.
“Romanucci & Blandin values Sarah’s compassionate commitment to our clients and the skills she brings to each of her cases. Her work on sexual abuses cases, mass shooting cases and others has been valuable in our clients’ quest for justice. We look forward to her continued contributions to the firm as a Partner,” said Founding Partner Antonio M. Romanucci.
“Our senior leadership team is quite pleased to add Sarah as a Partner, certainly for her dedication to clients and strong results, but also because it is a reflection of our firm’s commitment to diversity and the professional development of women. For many years now, we have been proud of the number of women across the firm and, in particular, in senior leadership roles. Congratulations to Sarah,” said Managing and Senior Partner Gina A. DeBoni.
