Settlement Reached with Junis Freight for I-290 Median Accident
Romanucci & Blandin, LLC announced a settlement with Junis Freight on behalf of Alfred Castillo, who was hit by an illegally merging truck on I-290 in heavy traffic while repairing his car on the median in December 2014. Castillo was awarded $610,000 in the settlement.
Jose Reyes, the defendant driving the box truck for Junis, admitted he had first observed Mr. Castillo’s stalled vehicle approximately six minutes before he ultimately hit the plaintiff, who was pushed to the ground from the impact of the collision further aggravating preexisting injuries to his spine. As the result of the accident, Castillo underwent a discectomy and a number of injections to treat his injuries.
“Mr. Castillo has had to endure intense pain as the result of this accident and suffer through procedure after procedure to try to get some sort of relief from these injuries,” said Attorney Bryce Hensley, who handled the litigation for Romanucci & Blandin. “I’m pleased we could reach this settlement on behalf of Mr. Castillo to help contend with the medical bills he has incurred due to the extensive treatment he has received.”
Romanucci & Blandin Senior Associate Bruno R. Marasso assisted in representing the plaintiff.
