$8,000,000 Settlement – Medical Malpractice Failed Experimental Bowel Surgery

The Romanucci & Blandin Medical Malpractice team secured an $8 million settlement on behalf of our client, who was born with a mild form of Hirschsprung’s disease, which affects the nerve cells in the large intestine and affects a baby’s ability to pass stool.

Following a standard surgery shortly after birth to cure the disease, the child was able to function fairly normally until being treated by the defendant physician, who performed an experimental bowel surgery--which failed, leading to complications when she was four years old. Despite multiple attempted revision surgeries, the minor Plaintiff, who is now 14 years old, requires a colostomy bag to pass her bowel movements.
