Antonio M. Romanucci honored by The National Center for Victims of Crime with the Frank Carrington Award
CHICAGO (September 10, 2026) – Romanucci & Blandin, LLC, a national personal injury firm primarily based in Chicago, is proud to announce that Founding Partner Antonio M. Romanucci is the recipient of the prestigious Frank Carrington Award from the National Center for Victims of Crime (NCVC).
The honor was conveyed on September 10, 2026, at a luncheon during the NCVC Annual Conference, which is being held at the Hilton Hotel in Chicago. The award is given in recognition of Antonio’s unwavering commitment to accountability and advocacy for victims of crime. The Frank Carrington Award recognizes an attorney whose contributions reflect those of legendary leader Frank Carrington, who is considered the “Father of the Crime Victims’ Rights Movement in America.” Mr. Carrington was a federal law enforcement officer, a member of federal task forces on victims’ rights, an author/educator, and the creator of the Civil Justice Database to help victims access legal cases and precedents.
The National Center for Victims of Crime is a national non-profit committed to advocacy for victims and their supporters, leading the public conversation and the understanding of crime and victimization through thought leadership and legislative advocacy. The organization also provides extensive services and resources for victims of crime. NCVC has previously given the Frank Carrington Award to U.S. Representative Gabby Giffords, who established the Giffords Law Center to fight gun violence after she survived being shot, and Morris Dees, founder of the Southern Poverty Law Center.
In his acceptance speech, Antonio acknowledged the victims of crime at the event, stating, “All of us in this room, at my law firm, and many others will continue the work and advocate for victims who are not able to advocate for themselves, because they tragically lost their lives or survived but have been deeply devastated and need others to lead the way. We will not let you down.”
Highlights of the event included an introduction of Antonio by Romanucci & Blandin Managing and Senior Partner Hon. Gina A. DeBoni, who stated, “Tony, most of all, is a protector, a defender, and has deep compassion for victims of crime, people of all colors and all walks of life. He will move every possible legal mountain to help them secure accountability and restore some sense of peace and purpose. From helping victims of mass shootings, sexual abuse and trafficking, civil rights violations and police misconduct, to mass disasters, Tony is tireless.”
Antonio has been a fierce advocate for victims of negligence, abuse and wrongful death, particularly for members of marginalized communities. A leader in civil rights litigation, he is known for his work on high-stakes cases, including the representation of the family of Renee Good, who was killed by a federal agent in Minneapolis in January 2026. He is also considered the “architect,” alongside Ben Crump, of the historic civil rights lawsuit against the City of Minneapolis and four police officers for the murder of George Floyd. They now also represent the family of Tyre Nichols in Memphis, and others. His work also includes litigation against major corporations, including Boeing for the Ethiopian Airlines disaster, and hundreds of mass tort cases for toxic exposure. Additionally, he represents those harmed in mass shootings and tragedies, including the Highland Park, Illinois, Fourth of July parade and the New Year’s Day 2025 truck ramming on Bourbon Street in New Orleans.
Antonio is the former president of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and has held multiple leadership roles for the American Association for Justice and the Justinian Society of Lawyers. Throughout his career, he has supported transformative work to make our communities and country better for all through legislative change that addresses underlying issues and inequities in his cases. In the early months of 2026 alone, he provided witness testimony before three Congressional subcommittees and forums, advocating for change and a level playing field of accountability across all types of police officers: local, state, and federal. Further, he has been recognized for his work by a number of highly respected legal organizations and is regularly seen in global, national and regional media outlets for his commentary on legal matters.
